2 ) What does the term Graphic Designer truly mean
When “Graphic Design was first coined in 1922 by William Addison Dwiggins Graphic Design was and still should be considered as follows: the process of visual communication and problem-solving using one or more of typography, photography and illustration. The field is considered a subset of visual communication and communication design, but sometimes the term “graphic design” is used synonymously.
In 1922 they were not using computers to create these visual composition. Instead they would incorporate paintings from an artist, handwritten typography, and photographs to create advertisements, brochures, magazines, etc… It was a long era of cut and paste. Do you remember your mom’s Creative Memories scrapbooking? Just imagine a super pro version of that (although I am sure your mom was an epic scrap-booker).
