Using Photoshop for web design used to be the standard… a long time ago. Back when websites were created based on bitmap graphics, Photoshop was the primary tool to accomplish this. Can you use Photoshop for web design today still? Sure you can, but there are far more effective website wireframing tools and prototype builders out there nowadays. Think about it like this: Photoshop is meant for photographers and graphic designers. Is Photoshop for web design? No. It was once used as a tool to create websites, but it was never created for the intended purpose of creating websites.

So, you probably know what I’m getting at here: stop using Photoshop for web design. Instead, considering using something like Figma or Adobe XD. In today’s video, I’m going to specifically talk about Figma. I’m also going to cover Figma design tips and strategies for how to start using Figma for your web design projects.

But, why use Figma? Figma is a website wireframing tool that was build and meant to be used for web design. While website prototyping with Photoshop is possible, like I said, the experience for the designer and for the client is much better in Figma. Figma is better than Photoshop because users can click between screens, interact with elements, and experience and view the site in a way that isn’t possible in Photoshop. It took me a long time to get over using Photoshop for web design, but if it’s between Figma or Photoshop (Photoshop vs. Figma), I will chose Figma for wireframing every time now.
