Web design today is not like it used to be. I used to think the best way to get web design clients was to give the client as much control over their own website as possible. That was one of the reasons I was so excited about WordPress. I would build a WordPress site and then give the client a crash course on how to update and manage their own website. It ended up being a disaster for everyone. My revenue fell dramatically and my clients weren’t getting the results they wanted either. Everybody was frustrated.
I didn’t know what to do because I was scared that if I raised my prices, I would lose all my clients to the web designers undercutting my prices. The truth was I had lost sight of what really mattered. I completely rethought the very essence of my business and the type of relationship I wanted with my clients. Then my eyes were opened. I discovered how to get more clients, specifically because I was charging way more than everyone else.
