I share six simple design techniques you can apply right away to make websites more visually compelling and effective: improve typography by choosing an anchor headline font and pairing it with contrasting supporting fonts (using resources like Fonts In Use); add a “star of the show” element that connects to the site’s story rather than just looking cool; use visual rhyming to repeat small details (shapes, gradients, motifs) for cohesion; add subtle depth with textures, noise, and glass effects without competing with the star; create clearer hierarchy with varying text opacity levels; and push past your first idea by making radically different design variations to find the best version.
